Copa Airlines accepts parachutes provided that they comply with established dimension and weight restrictions. If parachutes are to be transported as hand luggage, they must comply with established restrictions and easily fit under a passenger seat.

Policy

All firearms must be properly packed and stored in containers made for firearm transport.

Sports firearms include:

1. A rifle carrying case with no more than 2 rifles, with or without telescopic lenses, 11 lb (5 kg) of ammunition, a silencer, and tools.

2. Two carrying cases with pistols and 11 lb (5 kg) of ammunition.

3. A carrying case with no more than five small pistols, 11 lb (5 kg) of ammunition, a silencer, and tools.

4. Copa Airlines also accepts a carrying case with no more than five small pistols, 11 lb (5 kg) of ammunition, a silencer, and tools.

5. Ammunition must be packed in the original manufacturer’s packaging or a metal, wood, or fiber safety pack.

For international flights, with the exception of flights from Colombia, please take into account the following conditions governing the transport of competition firearm equipment:

1. The customer must demonstrate that the firearm has been shot before in a designated area.

2. Firearms must be transported in a locked hard carrying case.

3. A US $50 transport fee on international flights will apply.

For flights from Colombia, the following conditions apply:

1. The customer wanting to transport a firearm and/or ammunition must present, without exception, their license and airline ticket as proof of travel.

2. For domestic flights within Colombia, small arms will only be transported through the armory of the National Police.

3. All clients wanting to transport sports firearms must present, without exception, the airline’s boarding pass and a valid and current FEDETIRO (Federación Nacional de Tiro) member I.D.

4. Sports-use arms and/or munitions must always be unloaded, kept separate, and packed in special carrying cases.

5. Arms and/or munitions must always be accompanied by the corresponding documentation (the “proof of arms capacity” form must always be clearly and completely filled out).

Note: Incendiary- or explosive-type munitions are not permitted. Gunpowder is considered to be a Dangerous Good and must be transported in cargo.

Copa Airlines will transport a maximum of two surfboards, packed in the same bag, per passenger. Any additional boards must be checked as cargo. All passengers traveling with this type of luggage must make their reservation for their surfboards at the time of the ticket purchase or at least 48 hours prior to their flight departure. The number of surfboards that Copa Airlines will carry per flight depends on the type of aircraft for the same travel.  At Copa Airlines, we rely on 3 types of aircraft. In this way, the number of surfboard cases accepted per flight have been established as follows:

Below you will see a list of things to keep in mind when packing your surfing equipment for the flight:

• The board's sharp edge or keel must be removed and packed appropriately.
• Surfboards will be accepted during the embargo period and put on board, no matter what your destination.
• A service fee of US $75 per bag will be charged for all destinations except for Sao Paulo (GRU), Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and San Jose (SJO), which will incur a charge of US $50 per bag.
• Surfboards or surfboard/wakeboard bags measuring more than 115" (292 cm) in length will not be accepted as checked baggage on Copa Airlines flights. Bags containing surfboards or wakeboards weighing more than 70 lb (32 kg) will not be accepted as checked bags.

Copa Airlines permits the transport of windsurf equipment as part of the allowable baggage or subject to a service fee. Acceptable windsurf items include:

• A windsurf board, not exceeding 115 inches in length
• A mast
• A sail
• An equipment set-up kit

Below you will see a list of things to keep in mind when packing your windsurf equipment for the flight:

• Copa Airlines will accept, as checked baggage, one piece of windsurf equipment not exceeding 100 pounds; this will be subject to a US $100 transportation service charge.
• Those items that exceed the established weight and size restrictions (45 kg/100 lb and 62") must be transported as cargo.
• The items must be packed appropriately to protect them and avoid any damage during transport.
• The windsurf equipment cannot be checked as baggage on itineraries that include segments on other airlines' airplanes.
• Windsurf boards will not be accepted for transport during embargo periods.
