Passengers with special needs

1. How do I make special arrangements for a physically impaired or sick passenger?

If you wish to request special attentions for your flight, you only need to specify it when purchasing your ticket, regardless if it is purchased at one of our sales offices, delivered to your home or via Internet. If you are unable to make your request when making a reservation, we recommend that you arrive to the airport two hours before your flight departure time in order to request this type of help from Copa Airlines personnel. Leave the rest in our hands, we will ensure you receive the special attention you deserve.

 

2. Are there special aircraft seats for these persons?

All of our aircrafts, 737-800, 737-700 and 737-200, have seats accessible to passengers requiring some type of special assistance.

 

3. Who assists impaired persons on flights with connections and on those flights which require a change of aircraft?

When requesting special attention, Copa Airlines' personnel shall ensure this passenger receives attention at all stages of the flight, including connections, until the passenger reaches his/her final destination. More so, if they need to change aircrafts or fly on a different airline, Copa Airlines informs our passengers' special needs to other airlines so their personnel may be ready to take care of them. Our passengers with special needs can be sure to enjoy a pleasurable trip on Copa Airlines.

 

4. Are there any additional charges for this type of assistance?

No, Copa Airlines offers special needs services totally free of charge, without any extra costs. Your only concern is enjoying your flight.

Minors

5. What are the requirements for a minor to board a flight?

  • Every child under 2 years is considered an infant.
  • No child under 5 years can fly without being accompanied by an adult.
  • Any child over 5 years can fly without accompaniment as long as the following requirements are met:
    • The minor must arrive at the airport accompanied by an adult, who shall sign all necessary documents and remain in the airport until half an hour after the aircraft has departed.
    • Copa Airlines' personnel must receive information of the person who shall receive the child at the points of departure and arrival.
    • The person receiving the child at the point of arrival must present a valid photo ID to our personnel.
    • Comply with all child departure's legal requirements and permits before the country's immigration authorities.
    • Minors between the ages of 5 and 7 will be accepted only in direct flights. Additional charges will apply.
    • Children 8 to 14 years old are allowed on flights with connections. Additional charges will apply.
    • Children from 15 to 17 years shall receive special attention throughout their flight. Additional charges will apply.

Yes. Copa Airlines charges a service fee depending on the flight. For further assistance please contact one of our representatives.

Elderly persons

8. How do I make the necessary arrangements for an elderly passenger who requires special attention?

For special attention inside the aircraft, you need only to request it when purchasing your ticket, regardless if you buy your ticket in one of our sales offices or in a travel agency. If you are unable to make your request when making a reservation, we recommend arriving at the airport two hours before your flight departure time in order to request this type of assistance from Copa Airlines' personnel. Traveling with animals

11. What is your policy regarding the transportation of animals?

 

Copa Airlines only accepts domestic animals (dogs, cats, rabbits and small birds) for transportation on passenger flights. Check-in

12. Which documents are required at check-in?

Every passenger must comply with the following requirements and must present the following documents in order to fly:

  • Passport.

  • Ticket.

  • Boarding Pass.

  • Pay the airport departure tax.

Note: To obtain the corresponding departure tax amount for each airport please contact our sales offices.

 

 

13. Which documents are required for unaccompanied minors?

To exit their country of origin, every minor is required to present:

  • Notarized exit permit signed by the parents or guardian (when applicable according to country).

  • Completed form with minor's information, and information on the persons delivering and receiving the minor at the final destination. The form must bear the signature of the person and Copa Airlines' employees who deliver the minor at the point of origin and by the employees and person receiving the minor at the destination point.

14. How many hours before should I be at the counter to check-in?

Every passenger must be present at the Copa Airlines' counter at least 2 hours before their flight departure, according to schedule. Executive class passengers may be present at least 60 minutes (one hour) before flight departure, according to schedule.

 

15. What happens if I arrive late and I miss my flight?

In these cases, the Copa Airlines' airport counter agent shall find available space on the next flight to your final destination. A fee is applicable for this type of changes, generally between $50.00 and $75.00, although it may be higher depending on the ticket tariff.

Note: You shall be exempted from this charge if you furnish medical certification at the counter that you were unable to fly because of sickness.
