As of January 1, 2010, there will be an increase in the Panamanian departure tax.

Important announcement for passengers departing from Panama.

The Panamanian Civilian Aviation Administration has announced that, as of January 1, 2010, the departure tax for international passengers leaving Panama will be forty dollars (USD 40). This new amount will be added automatically to the purchase price of all flights leaving Panama, for travel initiated on or after January 1, 2010.

Passengers who are retired or over the age of 55 and who are either Panamanian citizens or residents will still receive the 50% discount on this new departure tax.

Connecting passengers (who will be in the country for less than 9 hours) and children less than 2 years of age are not subject to this departure tax.
