Copa Airlines cancels flights to and from Guatemala

Cancellation from May 28-31, June 1-2 due to volcano activity

Panama City, May 31, 2010- Guatemalan authorities have announced that due to eruptions of the Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala, La Aurora International Airport will be closed until June 2.  All Copa Airlines flights to and from Guatemala have been suspended until June 2.


Copa Airlines is providing passengers the option to change dates, flights or destinations without penalty on flights scheduled to arrive in or depart from Guatemala on May 28-31, June 1-2. In addition, Copa Airlines is waiving penalties for passengers who are able to reroute their travel through San Salvador or San Pedro Sula, subject to flight availability.

Copa Airlines passengers should check this information periodically as it is subject to change without prior notice based on local conditions. Copa will update this information as it is made available.

No ticket change fees or fare differences will apply for flights rescheduled in the same travel class and between the same city pairs as that of original tickets, if travel is made by June 15, 2010.

  Travel must be completed by June 15, 2010. New travel itinerary must be completed by June 15, 2010. After this date, penalties will apply.

  Based on ticket validity dates (up to one year from date issued). A change fee will apply for class upgrades or route changes (other than San Pedro and San Salvador).
