Copa Airlines announces it will begin service to Asuncion, Paraguay

Airline will operate direct flights from Asunción to Panama starting Dec. 16, 2011.

Asuncion, Paraguay, October 25, 2011 - Copa Airlines announced that it will begin new service from Asuncion to Panama and connecting destinations on Dec. 16.

The flight will depart Asuncion at 2:27 a.m., on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Panama at 6:44 a.m. The return flight will depart Panama at 3:38 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Asuncion at 11:42 p.m. Copa will operate the flight with a Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 aircraft, with capacity for 12 passengers in Business Class and 112 in the main cabin. On-board service includes an audio-video system.

The new flight will facilitate immediate connections through Copa Airlines' Hub of the Americas in Panama to all the Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, as well as to 11 cities in the Caribbean and seven in North America.

"This flight will provide Paraguayans with fast, convenient connections to cities throughout the Americas from our Hub of the Americas in Panama City, as well as increase access for all passengers to Asuncion's cultural attractions and business opportunities."

From the Hub of the Americas in Panama City, Copa offers flights to more international destinations than any other airline from any other hub in the Latin American region. Travelers can make rapid connections to destinations in Latin America, North America and the Caribbean, without customs and immigrations waits for in-transit passengers. In particular, the new Asuncion flight improves connections to the cities of San Jose, Costa Rica; Guatemala; Orlando and Miami, Florida; New York; Los Angeles; Toronto; Mexico City; Cancun; Havana; Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Nassau; Aruba; and San Andres, Cartagena and Bogotá, Colombia, as well as to other destinations on the American continent.

Asunción is the capital and most populous city of Paraguay and the country's center of economic and cultural activity. The city's economic growth and cultural sites make it attractive to both business and leisure travelers.

By the end of this year, Copa Airlines will have initiated service to nine new destinations, for a total of 59 destinations in 28 countries on the continent. Copa's new routes and frequencies are expected to result in a 20 percent capacity growth compared to 2010, based on passenger available seat miles.
