Advanced seat assignment
Introduction
Effective in July 2017, Copa Airlines will offer our passengers the option of preselecting a seat in the front of the economy cabin for a specific price. These seats will be offered on all flights operated by Copa and on all aircrafts in our fleet.

It is a service that allows you to choose a seat in the aircraft in the front of the main cabin and can be pre-selected (before the check in window) for a specific amount. Some have attributes such as: increased legroom, reclining and priority boarding.
Advanced seat assignment is free of charge for passengers with ConnectMiles PreferMember status (Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Presidential) and all passengers on the same reservation (up to a maximum of 8 passengers). Companions of Platinum and Presidential passengers can be assigned a seat even if they are not in the same reservation, as long as the Prefer passenger requests it. For regular passengers and BaseMembers, advanced seat assignment will apply at a cost.
Three types of products will be handled:
- Product # 1: more legroom, recline and have priority boarding, Premium Seats.
- Product # 2: more legroom, do not recline and have priority boarding, Exit Row Seats.
- Product # 3: regular leg room and recline, Convenient Seats.

Yes, sales taxes will apply to the advanced seat assignment cost and will be the same tax of the storefront in which the seat was sold.
They will be offered on all routes operated by Copa Airlines and all aircraft in our fleet.
All reservations made through any channel can make the purchase of seats:
- For purchases made through any sales channel, the passenger can enter copa.com and go to the section "Manage your booking" to make the purchase.
- For purchases made through copa.com, the passenger will have the option during the purchase of the ticket.
Yes, the passenger can enter copa.com, under the section "Manage your booking", by placing the reservation # and last name, and complete the advanced seat assignment of paid seats or a regular seat without cost.
The passenger can complete advanced seat assignment from the time he buys his ticket (on the website) or since his reservation is issued (for other channels) and until the moment of check in (24hrs before the departure of the flight).
No, in the window of check in, all passengers can select the seats of the aircraft that were not chosen or pre-selected at no cost.
No, the channel for advanced seat assignment of seats is Copa.com. If the passenger buys a ticket within the check-in hours, he / she can:
- Pay for a seat during the purchase flow of the website and in the "Manage your booking" section.
- Select any seat, which has not been assigned, within the check-in hours
If a passenger does not have an advanced seat assignment, the airport can choose the seats at no cost if this seat has not been previously chosen.
No, the channel for the advanced seat assignment of seats is copa.com (during the shopping flow or "Manage your booking" section). If the passenger decides to complete an advanced seat assignment through the travel agency, he can choose a free seat. However, we’re working to have this service available through all channels in the future.
- If they are within the purchase flow in copa.com, they must have entered their account (be Logged In), so that the PreferMember passenger and all those in the reservation can choose a seat at no cost.
- If you are at the “Manage your booking” section at copa.com, you must ensure that you have placed your ConnectMiles number in the reservation after you purchased the ticket.

No, the passenger will accumulate miles for the trip made in accordance with the current rules of the ConnectMiles program and policies, but will not accrue miles for the seat payment.
No, there are no class exceptions. The passenger will be offered advanced seat assignment for an amount without taking into account the class paid (restrictions apply: PreferMembers).
Passengers who are part of a group will be assigned regular seats.
Yes, disabled passengers and their companions can choose a seat at no cost through the Call Center, at our Sales Ticket Offices (CTOs) or at the Airport.
Yes, seat purchase is available on all flights operated by Copa. Passengers must enter the "Manage their booking" section to make the advanced seat assignment with their reservation code.
If the passenger cancels his flight, the advanced seat assignment will no longer be valid. If the cancellation of the flight is voluntary, the passenger will not be refunded.
In case of operational changes, Copa Airlines will automatically do its best to place the passenger in the same seat or in a seat of the same product or better. If this is not possible, we will reimburse you for the total amount paid for the pre-selection of the seat.
The passenger can pay for advanced seat assignment on his new flight, however the seat paid in his original flight will no longer be valid and the amount paid is non-refundable. If the passenger must make a change due to force majeure (death of a relative or disability due to health issues), the passenger can request a refund through our Customer service team by sending an email to customerservice@copaair.com.

No, the cost for preselecting a seat only corresponds to the value of the product being selected and sales taxes that apply.
