The Program and Benefits
ConnectMiles is Copa Airlines’ loyalty program, designed especially for our travelers. With ConnectMiles, you can earn miles for every flight on Copa Airlines, Copa Airlines Colombia, Star Alliance member airlines, and other partner airlines. You can also earn miles with our strategic partners, such as banks, hotels, and car rental companies. The miles you earn with ConnectMiles can be redeemed for award tickets—which can be used for travel to more than 1,300 destinations in 193 countries—and for other benefits.
ConnectMiles is the best way to stay connected to Copa Airlines. Plus, it’s free to join, and joining is easy. ConnectMiles members enjoy exclusive benefits and get more award miles for flying on Copa Airlines and Copa Airlines Colombia.
Yes, ConnectMiles has a program exclusively for PreferMembers. This program, known as the PreferProgram, is designed to recognize and reward our most loyal travelers. Members can qualify for status in the PreferProgram based on their activity during one calendar year (January to December). PreferMembers enjoy exclusive benefits starting as soon as they qualify for status and continuing throughout the next year.
Yes, children who age two and up can join. When making the affiliation, you must indicate the ConnectMiles number of the guardian or in which case the minor has an email address, you must put it.
Miles will expire after 24 months of inactivity.
ConnectMiles offers to their members the following benefits:
- Members earn one mile for every mile flown on Copa Airlines (except when traveling on an economy promo fare—in that case, the number of miles earned is equal to 50% of the distance flown).
- When traveling on Copa Airlines or Copa Airlines Colombia, members earn at least 500 miles, even on short-haul flights.
- Because Copa Airlines is part of the Star Alliance, ConnectMiles members can earn and use miles on more than 27 airlines, connecting them to more than 1,300 destinations in 193 countries. Qualifying for PreferMember status is easier. Fewer qualifying miles and segments are required, and the requirements are tailored to Copa Airlines’ routes.
- Better redemption fares, especially within the Copa Airlines route network.
- Access to Standard Award fares.
- Reciprocal benefits with United.
PreferProgram
The ConnectMiles PreferProgram has four tiers or status levels:
- First tier: Silver
- Second tier: Gold
- Third tier: Platinum
- Fourth tier: Presidential
Qualifying miles must be earned between January 1 and December 31 (one calendar year). The earned status and benefits are valid immediately as soon as the member qualify and will last until February 28 of the following year.
The PreferProgram offers exclusive benefits depending on the fare family purchased, in addition to the general ConnectMiles benefits such as:
- Courtesy upgrades (only for ConnectMiles PreferMembers)
- Priority check-in at the airport using our PreferAccess lines
- Priority boarding
- Access to Copa Clubs and Star Alliance VIP Lounges (only for Star Alliance Gold members)
- Courtesy upgrade certificates for our Platinum and Presidential PreferMembers
- Extra baggage allowance
- Greater availability of award tickets
- Recognition when flying on any Star Alliance member airline
Complimentary upgrades are given starting six days prior to the flight, and they may also be given on the day of the flight at the airport, subject to availability. Passengers will receive complimentary upgrades based on the fare family purchased and the PreferMember status, for more information visit our Fare Families page.
These timeframes do not apply to routes serviced by our new fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft. Passengers traveling on these routes will be notified that they have received an upgrade starting 48 hours prior to departure of the flight, depending on the fare type purchased and subject to availability.
Each year, PreferMembers with Platinum or Presidential status receive ConnectMiles certificates for courtesy upgrades to Business Class. These certificates can be used on Copa Airlines and Copa Airlines Colombia flights to any destination, and also on select flights operated by United. Platinum and Presidential PreferMembers receive certificates based on their status level, as follows:
- Platinum members receive three certificates that can be used on any Copa Airlines flight. These certificates can also be used on select flights operated by United, on a regional basis, as determined by United. Fare restrictions apply.
- Presidential members receive six certificates that can be used on any Copa Airlines flight, and also on flights operated by United. Fare restrictions apply.
Earning miles
- Base miles: The actual miles you fly when traveling with Copa Airlines, Copa Airlines Colombia, Star Alliance member airlines, and other partner airlines. Apply to qualify for a status.
- Fare bonus miles: Bonus miles based on the fare purchased when traveling with Copa Airlines, Copa Airlines Colombia, Star Alliance member airlines, and other airlines. Apply to qualify for a status.
- Status bonus miles: Bonus miles based on your PreferMember status when traveling with Copa Airlines and Copa Airlines Colombia.
- Promotional bonus miles: Bonus miles offered by ConnectMiles as part of various promotions.
- Business partner miles: Miles earned for non-airline activities, such as hotel stays, car rentals, and credit card purchases.
You can earn miles in the following ways:
Flying on Copa Airlines, Copa Airlines Colombia, and Star Alliance member airlines. To earn miles, just provide your ConnectMiles number when booking flights. When you check in for your flight, confirm that your ConnectMiles number appears on your boarding pass, and make sure that the name on your boarding pass matches the name associated with your ConnectMiles account. The miles you earn will be credited to your account once your trip is complete.
You can also earn miles by using ConnectMiles credit cards from our partner banks, and by spending money with our partner businesses, such as hotels and car rental companies.
Currently, members earn miles based on the distance flown and will be adjusted to the fare family purchased.
ConnectMiles guarantees that members will earn a minimum of 500 miles per segment flown.
Redeeming Miles
ConnectMiles members can book award tickets free of charge via our websites, copa.com and ConnectMiles.com. For a fee, members can also book award tickets through our Service Center.
ConnectMiles members can use their miles for award tickets on flights operated by Copa Airlines, Copa Airlines Colombia, and any Star Alliance member airline.
Copa Airlines has made some changes to redemption fares, based on the characteristics of our route network and our passengers’ preferences.
Yes, when booking award tickets, you can book a different class of service for each leg of your trip. For example, you can book a round-trip ticket with your outbound flight in economy class and your return flight in business class.

Yes, Copa Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance network, so ConnectMiles members can earn miles, use miles, and be recognized when traveling on United and other Star Alliance member airlines.
Copa Airlines continues to have a strong relationship with United and the MileagePlus® program. The ConnectMiles and MileagePlus® loyalty programs offer unique reciprocal benefits, including access to Standard Award fares and upgrade certificates.
Yes, ConnectMiles offers members opportunities to earn and use miles on other partner airlines that enhance our route network, including Aeroméxico, Gol, and Azul Airlines.

ConnectMiles has a number of key strategic partnerships. Primarily, we partner with banks that offer co-branded credit cards. We also have a wider range of strategic partners, including hotels, car rental companies, gas stations, and more. These partnerships offer our members even more ways to earn and use miles.
ConnectMiles members can earn miles for every hotel stay, thanks to our internationally-renowned partners, including Marriott Bonvoy, Barceló Hotel Group, ConnectMiles Hotels, Rocketmiles, and Booking.com.
ConnectMiles credit cards are offered by BAC Credomatic in Panama and Central America, Banco General in Panama, Banco Promerica in Costa Rica, Guatemala and Dominican Republic, and Produbanco in Ecuador.
In the countries where we have partner banks, you can apply for a ConnectMiles credit card directly from these banks.
Yes, miles earned with a ConnectMiles credit card can be used for award tickets.
Miles expire after 24 months of inactivity in your account, but having a ConnectMiles credit card is the easiest way to keep your account active. Each time you make a purchase with your credit card, your miles will remain valid for 24 months from the date of the purchase.
No, only miles flown count as PreferMember qualifying miles.

When transferring miles, a member transfers miles from his or her own account to another member’s account. When giving miles, a member buys new miles, which are deposited in another member’s account. When miles are transferred, the miles are deducted from the account of the member who initiates the transaction, and they are deposited in the recipient’s account. When miles are given, no miles are deducted from the account of the member who initiates the transaction; instead, new miles are purchased.
Miles can be purchased in increments of 1,000, from a minimum of 1,000 miles up to a maximum of 50,000 miles per transaction. On an annual basis, there is a limit of 2,000,000 miles on the number of miles that can be purchased, given, and/or transferred per year.
When buying, giving, or transferring miles, please allow up to 48 hours for the transaction to be processed and the miles to be deposited in your ConnectMiles account or the recipient’s account.
The transaction will appear as “Points United Miles.” Your credit card will be charged immediately.
Transactions generally take up to 48 hours to complete.

Yes. Buying, giving, or transferring ConnectMiles will keep your miles from expiring.
Each time a member earns or uses miles, this qualifying account activity will keep the member’s miles valid for 24 months from that date. Giving or transferring miles extends the validity of the miles in the account of the member who initiates the transaction; it also extends the validity of the miles in the recipient’s account. No. ConnectMiles that are purchased, given, or transferred do not count toward qualifying for the PreferProgram.
Miles from other airlines’ loyalty programs cannot be transferred to your ConnectMiles account or combined with your ConnectMiles. If you would like to use miles from another airline’s frequent flyer program for award travel on Copa Airlines, or if you need to make changes to award travel that you have already booked, please contact that airline directly for information and assistance.
Some promotions, such as the offer you’re referring to, are personalized for specific ConnectMiles members, so they can’t be transferred to other members.
