Yes. The option to preselect seats is available for all flights operated by Copa Airlines.
No, at the moment you cannot complete the payment to preselect seats with miles, only with the forms of payment available on our website. You will not accrue miles for the seat payment.
Yes. Taxes will be applied depending on the origin of the flight.
Yes. You may call our Reservation Center and pay for the difference in price. If you would like to exchange your preselected seat for a seat of equal or lesser price, you can do so by accessing the “Manage your reservation” section. However, you will not be refunded any difference in price.
No. If you make a voluntary change to your itinerary, the price of your seat will not be refunded. You may purchase a new seat, if available, for the updated segment of your itinerary. If the passenger must make a change due to force majeure (death of a relative or disability due to health issues), the passenger can request a refund through our Customer Service team by sending an e-mail to customerservice@copaair.com.
If you don’t select your seat prior to your flight, you will be randomly assigned one of the remaining available seats upon checking in at the airport. Please keep in mind that you and your travel companions may not be seated together during the flight as a result.
In case of operational changes, Copa Airlines will automatically do its best to place the passenger in the same seat or in a seat of the same product or better. If this is not possible, we will reimburse you for the total amount paid for the pre-selection of the seat.
Passengers can pay for Advanced Seat Assignment in their new flight. However, the seat paid in their original flight will no longer be valid and the amount paid is non-refundable.
If a passenger applies for our Business Class Upgrades program, but had paid to preselect a seat and earns the upgrade to travel in Business Class, the previously paid seat is released. The passenger can request a refund for it through our Customer Service team at customerservice@copaair.com.

Advanced seat assignment is free of charge for passengers with ConnectMiles PreferMember status (Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Presidential) and all passengers on the same reservation (up to a maximum of 4 passengers). Companions of Platinum and Presidential passengers can be assigned a seat, even if they are not in the same reservation, as long as the Prefer passenger requests it. For regular passengers and BaseMembers, Advanced Seat Assignment will apply at a cost.
- If they are within the purchase flow in copa.com, they must be logged in their ConnectMiles account, so that the PreferMember passenger and all those in the reservation can choose a seat at no cost.
- If they are at the “Manage your booking” section at copa.com, they must ensure to have placed their ConnectMiles number in the reservation.
- They can also assign seats by calling the ConnectMiles Service Center.
Yes. To be able to seat in an Exit Row seat, the passenge must meet the following requirements:
- 15 years of age or older
- Willing and able to assist in the event of an emergency
- Not travelling with an infant, child or pet
- Able to understand instructions in Spanish for operating the Emergency Exit
- Able to lift 50 pounds (23 kg)
- Not using a seat belt extender (hazard of entanglement)
