Children 0 - 23 months old are considered infants and they must always travel accompanied by an adult. A child 0 - 23 months old does not occupy a seat.

If you want your child to use a seat during the flight, you must purchase a ticket at the applicable fare on the route you wish to fly. The seat must be protected, whether it is used or not during the flight.

The airline doesn’t transport:

  • Newborn infants under 7 days old.
  • Babies that require an incubator.

Flights within Colombia and Panama (domestic) No charge is applied
International flights If the infant is traveling in the adult's lap, the charge may be equivalent to 10% depending on the published fare of the adult plus the taxes that might apply.*
If the infant occupies a seat, the regular discount for children will be applied according to the rules for the corresponding fare on the route flown.

* Only one babe-in-arms will be accepted per adult.

High chairs

Copa Airlines accepts high chairs as carry-on luggage as long as the dimensions of the high chair do not exceed those accepted for hand carry-on luggage and it can be placed in one of the overhead compartments or underneath the seat in front of you.

If you check the seat as baggage, it will be subject to all excess baggage fees depending on its size and weight.

Approved child seat specifications:

  • The seat must comply with all corresponding federal regulations for car seats. Seats manufactured after February 12, 1985 must be approved for use in automobiles and airplanes.
  • The accompanying adult is responsible for:
    • ensuring that the seat functions correctly,
    • that the child does not exceed the seat restrictions,
    • that the child is secured correctly in the seat,
    • that the child seat is safely attached to the airplane seat.

Note: If traveling with a stroller and a car seat, only one of these items will be permitted free of charge in addition to your regular (no charge) baggage.
