ConnectMiles news and benefits in appreciation of your loyalty

We want to thank you for your continued loyalty, especially during this past, challenging year. 2020 required a lot of adaptation and flexibility from everyone, which led us to review and adjust our ConnectMiles qualifying criteria and other important program benefits.
In this new year, we continue to work with the clear purpose of helping you advance and protect your benefits in the program to connect you with your family and loved ones or make it easier for you to enjoy a well-deserved vacation whenever possible.
Here are the measures we are taking to help you protect your benefits and continue to advance in our ConnectMiles program during this 2021 qualifying year:
- In April 2020 we announced the extension of the status of all PreferMembers for an additional year until February 28, 2022, so that they can continue to enjoy their benefits throughout this year.
- Also, all qualifying miles and segments obtained for trips made during 2020 were recognized and credited to your 2021 balance 1.
- Additionally, to give you a greater opportunity to maintain or improve your PreferMember status, we are again lowering the qualification criteria normally necessary to achieve PreferMember status for the 2021 qualification year 2.

Effective January 15, 2021, we are expanding the current complimentary upgrade benefit when traveling with redemption tickets for Presidential PreferMembers, who will now be eligible to receive complimentary upgrades when traveling with redemption tickets in Economy Saver class in addition to Economy Standard class 3. These upgrades will be granted starting 24 hours before your flight, after the completion of the upgrade process for non-redemption tickets.
Additionally, now Platinum PreferMembers traveling with redemption tickets in Economy Standard class 3 will also enjoy this benefit. These complimentary upgrades also will be granted starting 24 hours before your flight, after the completion of the upgrade process for PreferMembers using non-redemption tickets and for Presidential PreferMembers using redemption tickets.
- For you to reserve and plan your trips with greater peace of mind, we will be extending our current waiver policy for changes, cancellations, refunds, and late booking fee until March 31, 2021 4.
- As we have done since April 2020, we will continue the promotion to allow members whose miles would otherwise expire to easily retain their expired miles. Affected members will be receiving personalized communication about this promotion.

Qualifying miles and segments earned by traveling in 2020 may be reflected up to 30 days after your trip is completed. It is necessary that the member has registered their ConnectMiles number so that their miles and segments can be accumulated.

The requirements in point #3 are effective from January 1 to December 31, 2021.Miles and segments flown on Copa Airlines, Star Alliance member airlines and / or other airlines associated with the program, during the calendar year (from January 1 to December 31). Minimum of four flight segments paid for and flown on Copa Airlines during a calendar year. A flight segment is defined as a flight with a takeoff and a landing, except for flights with an intermediate stop in a city other than Panama.
The new PreferMember status either for qualifying miles or segments after the reduction of the qualification criteria will be reflected up to 15 business days after reaching the new status.
Progress bars in our mobile app will not reflect the reduced qualification criteria changes until October.

Point #4 is effective as of January 15, 2021. Presidential PreferMembers will be eligible to receive complimentary upgrades when traveling with award tickets in Economy Saver class in addition to Standard Economy class. These upgrades will be granted from 24 hours before the flight, after the regular ticket upgrade process has finished. Platinum PreferMembers traveling with award tickets in Economy Standard class will also be eligible to receive complimentary upgrades, complimentary upgrades will be granted from 24 hours before the flight, after the regular ticket upgrade process has finished and after the upgrades of the PreferMembers Presidential with award tickets are granted. Gold and Silver PreferMembers will not be eligible to receive complimentary upgrades when traveling with award tickets in economy class.

Your safety is our priority. We’re committed to providing ongoing updates so you can feel confident about your travel experience with us. We have made the following changes to the travel experience for our PreferMembers:
Boarding process
- During the boarding process, we will follow the social distancing measures recommended by the health authorities.
- To limit physical interaction, at airports with electronic scanners, you will need to self-board by placing your boarding pass on the scanner and showing your passport to the boarding agent.
- Flights will be boarded by groups, from back to front. We will call each group separately to minimize the number of passengers in line. PreferMembers can board at any time.
- Passengers travelling in Business Class and Main Cabin are only allowed to bring one carry-on bag (1) and one (1) personal item.
On board
- As a safety measure, for passengers traveling in Business Class, we have simplified food and beverage service on board according to the duration and schedule of the flight.
- Special meal service on board will not be offered excluding gluten-free meals on flights to/from Argentina.
- Blankets will only be available in Business Class on flights of 6 hours or longer, with spare blankets in the main cabin for special needs. Blankets will be placed in sealed, disinfected packaging.
- To minimize physical interaction between the crew and passengers, on-board recognition will be suspended in the aircraft and passengers must keep their personal items with them. Our crew members will no longer be able to handle personal belongings.
ConnectMiles PreferMember Status extension
We realize life has been disrupted and many travel plans have been put on hold. The current environment has created plenty of uncertainty, but we want to reassure PreferMembers that their status will not be impacted.
ConnectMiles is extending the PreferMember Status of all current 2020 PreferMembers for an additional year through February 28, 2022; PreferMembers can continue to enjoy all the benefits once they are ready to start traveling again. The extension of status will apply for all PreferMembers whom earned status through the regular 2019 qualification or were granted status through Maternity Leave or Corporate Sales agreements.
All Copa and ConnectMiles systems will be updated to reflect the extension of the status by April 30th, 2020, and no action by the member is required.
Additional adjustments to the PreferProgram will be made as the travel environment evolves with the goal of making Copa and ConnectMiles the best choice for all of our PreferMembers.
Additional Information for PreferMembers
- If you do not qualify for a higher status, your current status will be extended through the 2021 program year (until February 28th, 2022).
- Silver status earned through a co-brand credit card will continue as long as the member continues to hold the credit card, subject to other applicable terms and conditions.

We´d like to share with you two upcoming changes to the ConnectMiles program during 2020:
Modification of the Qualifying Segment Accrual Structure
Starting November 19th, 2019 consistent with our mileage accrual structure all tickets purchased in Economy Promo Fares for travel from January 1st, 2020 and later, will accrue 0.5 qualification segments when traveling on Copa Airlines. Members will continue to earn 1 to 2 qualifying segments when purchasing Economy Classic, Full and Business fares.

- Copa Airlines reserve the right to change the eligible fare classes at any time without notice.
- Starting November 19th, 2019 all tickets bought on Economy Promo Fares to travel from January 1st, 2020, will accrue 0.5 qualification segments when traveling on Copa Airlines.
- All members earn a minimum of 0.5 qualifying segments on all purchased fare classes.
- Qualifying segments are calculated as a percentage of base (actual flight) miles.
PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit
Life changes when we become parents, in ConnectMiles we value your loyalty and we want to support you in this new experience, that´s why we are introducing a new benefit for PreferMembers to extend their status during maternity leave.
Starting March 1st, 2020, the “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit” will help you maintain or regain your previous PreferMember status in case you travel less due to the birth of your child.
Once you are ready to start traveling again, you can start the application process to restart your PreferMember status for one more year.
Considerations
- The “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit” begins to be effective as of March 1st, 2020.
- The “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit” cannot be requested more than 1 time in a period of 3 years.
- The “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit” must be requested within a period of no more than 6 months of giving birth or any other surgical procedure related to a pregnancy.
- For the status to be granted, the person must not have flight activity either on Copa Airlines or on any other Air Partners during the pregnancy period.
- he highest ConnectMiles status to be granted, through the “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit”, will be Platinum.
- The ConnectMiles status that the member requests must have been obtained exclusively by the program qualification rules, that is, by qualifying miles and / or qualifying segments:
- Silver: 25,000 miles and / or 20 qualifying segments
- Gold: 45,000 miles and / or 40 qualifying segments
- Platinum: 75,000 miles and / or 70 qualifying segments
- The member must send an email request to apply for “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit” email to accounts@connectmiles.com, from the email account registered in their ConnectMiles profile, containing:
- ConnectMiles number
- Document (format: .pdf, .png or .jpg of maximum 2MB) that supports why the Pregnancy Period was taken: birth certificate of the newborn or a valid medical certificate that validates a procedure due to maternity period issued by a doctor
- Explanation that includes the reason why their flight activity was stopped for the period mentioned in the certificate
- The response period for the “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit” requests will be 14 business days.
- In the event that the administrator and the airline (Copa Airlines) accept the “PreferMember Maternity Leave Benefit”, request requested status will be granted until 12:00 a.m., Panama time, on the last day of February of the following year.
- ConnectMiles team will be reviewing on a case by case basis. The resolution of these cases is entirely at the discretion of the administered and the airline (Copa Airlines).

With our new fleet we award your loyalty offering a new upgrade policy for our PreferMembers in MAX9 Dedicated Routes San Francisco¹:
PreferMembers who bought Full² or Classic³ Fares will be eligible for an upgrade to Dreams Business Class. PreferMembers Gold, Platinum and Presidential will also be eligible for an upgrade to Dream Business Class when buying Economy Promo⁴. Upgrades will be confirmed from two days (48 hrs.) to one day (24 hrs.) before departure and is subject to availability.
ConnectMiles members can redeem their miles for an upgrade to Dream Business Class. To redeem your miles for an upgrade, you can do it through the Website or contact our Service Center.
Global and Regional Certificates issued to Presidential and Platinum members can be used for an upgrade to Dream Business Class.

On the new BOEING 737 MAX9 we introduced a new section called Economy Extra. This new section offers you more legroom, 10-inch touch screens, a USB input and two alternating current (AC) outputs in each row and priority boarding. PreferMembers will be able to select at no additional charge seats on Economy Extra section.
PreferMembers must designate their companion at the airport during the check-in process. The companion will be added to the upgrade standby list at the airport.
- Companions will not be restricted to any specific class of service to be eligible for an upgrade.
- Companions upgrades are space-available.

From May 21, 2018, the Complimentary Upgrade policy will be more flexible, allowing tickets purchased under the Economy Promo fare to be eligible for advance complimentary upgrades, based on availability and the status of the passenger in the PreferProgram of ConnectMiles.

Expanding Availability for Upgrade Certificates:

Currently, SILVER PreferMembers are permitted to check two (2) bags weighing up to 70 lbs. (32 kg) each free of charge.

On many flights, GOLD, PLATINUM, and PRESIDENTIAL PreferMembers will enjoy greater availability of courtesy upgrades when purchasing last-minute tickets. For the 2018 PreferProgram, courtesy upgrades will be given to SILVER PreferMembers on the day of departure subject to availability. Currently, courtesy upgrades are available to SILVER PreferMembers 24 hours prior to their flight.
