Refund Request Options
Thinking about the peace of mind of our passengers, we have made our ticketing policies more flexible. Here are the options we have for you in these times of change.
If you purchased your ticket on or before August 31, 2020, our waiver conditions allow you to cancel your reservation and use your ticket value for a future trip, free of charge until December 31st, 2021 in the same cabin. Contact us when you are ready to travel again.
Note: Groups, partially used, or redemption ticket holders please call us for assistance.
Our waiver conditions allow you to cancel your reservation and receive a travel voucher for the value of your ticket, plus an additional 20%. Also, ConnectMiles Members and PreferMembers get up to 10,000 bonus miles depending on status.
Only tickets purchased on or before August 31, 2020 can receive this credit. Tickets purchased between September 1 and September 30, 2020, are eligible if the flight is cancelled or the itinerary was significantly delayed.
Travel Certificates issued until December 31, 2020 can be used for travel on or before December 31, 2021.
Travel certificates issued from January 1, 2021, will be valid for one year from the date of issue.
If your plans changed and you will no longer travel, you may be entitled to a refund.
Our refund processing times are longer than usual as we are experiencing an unprecedented volume of requests. Refunds will be processed in the order they were received and which might take up to one month. The refunded value will be reflected after up to two of your bank account statements, depending on your bank's billing cycle.
Refund Policy
- Copa Airlines will provide refunds for eligible tickets and optional services once the request accompanied by any required documentation is received by the airline.
- Products or optional services are non refundable, except for some exclusions according to the product terms & conditions
- The refund request depends on the fare rules for the ticket purchased. Completely used tickets are not refundable.
- If the ticket is not refundable, you may use it as a method of payment for a new ticket, which must be in the name of the same passenger as on the original ticket. Partially used tickets may or may not be refundable, depending on the rules of the purchased fare. For more information, see Fare Families
- Certain fees apply, including: Tickets can only be refunded in the country where the sale was made. The refund will be granted in the same form of payment and currency as the purchase.
- Refund may be requested only within ticket validity period.
- A ticket refund may have some fees applied to the process based in fare rules, airport and country taxes that don’t qualify to be refunded will not be included.
- In the event of the death of a passenger, the refund will be granted according with Copa Airlines' current policy. In all cases, it is necessary to present a copy of the death certificate of the passenger holding the ticket.
- In cases of illness, you will be asked to provide a letter from a doctor on letterhead stating that travel is contraindicated. Refund will be granted according with Copa Airlines' current policy
- All refunds are processed back to original form of payment.
- Travel agency administrative charges or additional amounts related to the sale of a package will not be included in the amount to be reimbursed.
- Tickets purchased through travel agencies with cash or paid for with a travel agency credit card: Copa Airlines will approve the refund request for the tickets that are eligible. However, payment will be issued to the customer directly by the travel agent.
