Pets inside the passenger cabin (as carry-on baggage)

Allowed
It is the policy of Copa Airlines to only transport pets in the passenger cabin from Monday through Friday on international flights. This restriction does not apply to domestic flights within Panama. The transport of pets is allowed daily for passengers traveling on domestic flights (origin and destination) with no international connection.
- Only one pet is permitted in each container.
- Only one pet allowed per passenger.
- Children under 11 years of age are not allowed to travel with pets in a cabin.
Costs
All pets transported will be charged a fee each way, based on excess baggage rates.

All passengers, in transit through Panama who travel with pets and want to leave the airport for a few hours, must leave the pet in quarantine with a charge of US $9.50 per pet.
However, on connecting flights that include domestic flights and international flights, the international flights’ conditions and surcharges will apply.
Containers or cages
The containers or cages must meet these following requirements:
- They must be constructed of wood, metal, or plastic, with rigid or soft sides.
- They must be big enough to allow the animal to stand, turn around or lie down in a natural manner.
- They must be durable enough to prevent the animal from escaping during handling and transporting.
- The doors must have safety latches that allow for the door to be opened without the use of special tools.
- They must have holes that allow for ventilation.
- They must have a system for storing waste produced during the flight. The use of shredded paper or a tray placed on the floor of the cage is recommended.
- Containers must fit easily under the seat in front of the passenger. They cannot exceed the following dimensions:

- Pets must not be offensive or smell, secured in their container and not require attention during the flight.
- The pet, together with its container, must not weigh more than 20 lb.
- The passenger may feed his/her pet, but only if it remains inside its container.
- The container must be clean, well-ventilated, leak-proof and must not allow any part of the pet to escape or stick out.
- The pet must remain inside the container at all times during the flight.
- Seats in the first row, those facing a bulkhead or those in an emergency exit row cannot be assigned to passengers traveling with pets.
- The total number of containers permitted inside the Main Cabin are:

- Pets are not allowed in Business Class. ConnectMiles PreferMember Passenger traveling with pets in cabin will not be eligible for complimentary upgrades.
- Pets are not accepted on board if your itinerary includes interline segments or a connection on an airline other than Copa Airlines.
