Panama City, February 5, 2018

Recently, Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A., {NYSE: CPA}, and the Lufthansa Group, both members of the global Star Alliance airlines network, reached an agreement that increases their commercial relations and allows them to advance in an even greater business alliance. This new agreement, in addition to including Lufthansa, SWISS and Brussels Airlines, airlines that already had close commercial relations with Copa Airlines, will also incorporate Austrian Airlines, an Austrian airline that is part of the Lufthansa Group. Also, Copa Airlines will now be able to market the Panama - Frankfurt - Panama route, operated by Lufthansa.
"With this alliance between Copa Airlines and the Lufthansa Group, passengers will have better options to connect to and from all Latin America through Copa Airlines' Hub of the Americas in Panama," said Christophe Didier, commercial vice president of Copa Airlines. "Similarly, it will now be easier and more comfortable for passengers anywhere in Latin America to directly reach their destination in Europe," he added.
As a strategic partner in the region, Lufthansa passengers could use Copa Airlines services to and from the hub in Panama. In turn, moving forward, Copa Airlines customers can benefit from the services of the Lufthansa Group's airlines and their hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna and Brussels, as this agreement facilitates the commercialization of flights to Europe, Africa and Asia from Copa’s destinations.
Felipe Bonifatti, General Manager of the Lufthansa Group in Panama, expressed that "the excellent relationship that has united us with Copa Airlines for many years now has now expanded and consolidated through this new and more complete commercial agreement, which brings countless benefits for everyone, particularly for our mutual customers. At Lufthansa, we are delighted that our flight from Panama to Frankfurt and vice versa also carries a Copa Airlines flight number, with codeshare".
As a result of this new commercial agreement, the scope of the shared code already existing between both airlines is extended, allowing Copa Airlines to commercialize the Panama - Frankfurt - Panama route, which is operated by Lufthansa. Passengers will have the option to make connections in cities in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia through the hub of Frankfurt, Germany, one of the most important in Europe.
In addition to Lufthansa, Copa Airlines also has agreements and shared codes with other international airlines and, as a member of Star Alliance, its customers have the opportunity to reach 1,300 airports in 191 countries and enjoy more than 18,400 daily flights. Through these efforts, Copa Airlines continues to offer its travelers more and better options to be better connected every day.
