Copa Airlines inaugurates Copa Club in San José
- Costa Rica is the fourth Latin American country with a VIP lounge for the airline’s passengers.
- Copa Airlines strengthens its commitment to business and tourism development in Costa Rica and the region.
San Jose, March 21, 2013, -Copa Airlines, subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. {NYSE: CPA} has inaugurated its newest Copa Club in Latin America, located in the Juan Santamaría International Airport in San Jose, Costa Rica. Costa Rican government officials, airline customers, business executives and Copa coworkers attended the Copa Club opening ceremony, along with Copa Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron.
The new Copa Club is designated exclusively for passengers with club membership, those who are traveling in Copa Airlines’ business class (Clase Ejecutiva) or first class on a Star Alliance member airline, or hold Star Alliance Gold status. The club is operated in Costa Rica by Sala VIP, S.A. (SAVIPSA).
“Copa Airlines operations have increased consistently in Costa Rica, and we are now the preferred airline for connections throughout Latin America,” Heilbron said. “In recognition of their loyalty, we wanted to offer our frequent flyers and business class passengers the privacy, comfort and world-class service of a Copa Club while they await their departing flights. This VIP lounge enhances Copa’s presence in Costa Rica and contributes to the country’s economic and tourism development.”
With the new VIP lounge, Copa Airlines now has four Copa Clubs in Latin America: in Panama, Guatemala, Santo Domingo and San Jose.
In addition, the new Copa Club, located in the main concourse next to the airport’s food court, joins a global network of 23 United Clubs in the U.S., and the more than 1,000 VIP lounges of Star Alliance partner airlines throughout the world.
“With almost 590 square meters and seating capacity for more than 160 guests, the San Jose Copa Club offers all the amenities that business travelers expect between connections – all in all, a better travel experience, with more privacy and comfort, in pleasant surroundings,” Heilbron added.
The Copa Club offers a number of amenities, such as:
- Assistance with reservations, seat assignment and tickets
- Wireless Internet
- A variety of newspapers and magazines
- Work stations
- Copy and fax center
- Complimentary local telephone calls
- Satellite television viewing areas
- Bar area with an assortment of snacks, drinks, and local and international spirits
- Baggage storage area
Copa Airlines has served Costa Rica for more than 25 years. The airline operates a total of 91 flights a week from San Jose and Liberia to the Hub of the Americas in Panama and to other destinations in Central America, connecting the country to more than 65 destinations in 29 countries in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
