Minors traveling alone
Copa Airlines offers a service for children between the ages of 5 and 14 years who travel without companions.
This service ensures that children are accompanied by the passenger service agent from they arrive at our check-in counter at the origin until they are received at their final destination where they are delivered to a family member, guardian or host.
Unaccompanied minor service
The unaccompanied minor service does not include service during the flight. The service starts at the check-in desk, includes the transfer of the minor through security and immigration for departure to the boarding gate and seating in the plane. Upon arrival at the final destination, the minor is accompanied from the plane through immigration and customs, at which point the minor is handed over to the responsible adult.
- Only a maximum of 25 unaccompanied minors are accepted per flight, be sure to request the service at least 48 hours before the flight departure or at the time of booking through our Sales Offices and Reservation Center.
- The payment of the unaccompanied minor service can be made 48 hours before the departure of the flight through our Sales Offices and Reservation Center.
- To pay the unaccompanied minor service, reservation must be issued and confirmed.
- The airline is not responsible for providing the special services required in the absence of a request under these provisions.
- If the itinerary is impacted by any irregular operation, the parents or legal guardians will be contacted in order to obtain authorization with respect to any changes made to the itinerary.
Restrictions

Copa Airlines neither offers nor accepts unaccompanied minors connecting to/from another airline.
Fees
- If two or more minors from the same family travel without companions, only one fee is applied, corresponding to the fee for one minor, the value of the service will be charged for every four (4) children only in accordance with the provisions of the following table.
- The service fee is per journey.
- In addition of service fee, taxes established by the country will apply.

Copa Airlines domestic flights
A fee of USD 20.00 on domestic flights in Panama. If the minor's reservation has domestic flights with international connections, the unaccompanied minor service fee for international flights will be applied, as set in the table above.
Conditions
- Unaccompanied minors must have with them all the documents required by legal regulations of the city of origin and destination of their trip. Also, the documents required for transit through a specific country, if necessary. We recommend checking with the competent authorities to ensure that they are complied with.
- For connecting flights, unaccompanied minor service is not offered if the minor's itinerary includes a flight that is the last flight of the day at the connection point, unless the flight is the only flight of the day.
- Unaccompanied minor should not travel with carry-on luggage that they cannot take care of. Copa Airlines will not be responsible for the contents of the minor's carry-on bags or for any items of value carried by the minor.
- Unaccompanied minors may not carry excess baggage or extra baggage as checked baggage.
- Unaccompanied minor are not allowed to travel with pets.
- A minor may not be the guardian of another minor, unless it is proved that is the father.
- Unaccompanied minors and young travelers who are in medical treatment or who have any special medical condition, cannot be accepted unless they present a medical document authorizing the child for traveling without the company of a responsible adult.
- When the child arrives at its destination, the person to receive the child must show documentation that identifies them as the person named on the form that is attached to the ticket holder of the child.
Flights from the United States
For flights departing from the United States, the adult responsible for dropping the minor off must have an ID that is valid in the United States (an ID, passport, or driver’s license), showing the adult’s full name, date of birth, and gender, since the adult will be issued a Gate Pass in order to accompany the minor and drop him or her off at the boarding gate.
In countries where taxes are imposed according to local laws, these taxes will be imposed in addition to the charge for this service.
Special information required at time of booking of the child
- Name and relationship of the person that will lead the child to the airport.
- Telephone number and residence address of such person.
- Name and relationship of the person to receive the child.
- Telephone number and residence and office address of such person.
- Identification number or photo identification of the adult who will bring the minor to the airport, and of the adult who will meet the minor upon arrival.
